Executive Medical (Female)
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
This medical is performed by a doctor and includes the following:
- Full medical history, which includes family history. At this stage, and at all stages during the medical, the patient has the opportunity to discuss any health concerns that she may have.
- Full examination including breast examination and pelvic examination.
- Height and weight are measured and body mass index is determined, which is a clinically accepted indicator of potential health problems associated with being overweight.
- Coronary risk score, which measures the risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years. It is suitable only for people who have not had the diagnosis of heart disease or stroke.
- Urine test to screen for abnormalities that may be due to diabetes, an infection or kidney problems.
- Resting ECG to monitor the heart.
- Blood test - a full blood test including red cell and white cell counts, liver function, kidney function, diabetes screening test and cholesterol levels. Thyroid function is also measured as a part of this blood test.
- Cervical smear test.
- Spirometry, otherwise known as lung function testing - the patient blows into a spirometer, which measures and reports how the airways are performing.
- Audiometry - hearing test.
- If the patient is over 45, a bowel cancer screening test, called a faecal occult blood test, is included. We provide the patient with a kit so the test is performed at home and posted in a pre-paid envelope to the laboratory.
Mammograms are available by referral at additional cost. We would usually advise women to undergo routine screening mammography from the age of 40.
