Preparing for your Appointment

PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT

At the time of booking, the Fleet Street Clinic Reception Team will be happy to advise what you should bring with you to your appointment, depending on which of our services you need. As a general guide as to what to bring/wear:

MEDICALS

It would be preferred if you were able to attend either your ‘Executive Medical’or your ‘Standard Medical’ having fasted. This involves having small amounts of water (black tea is allowed) for a minimum of 8 hours before your appointment. This is so we retrieve the most accurate results, rather than getting abnormal results which would require more testing.
For example, if your medical appointment is at 9am, please avoid food before your appointment.
If your appointment is at 3pm, please only have a very small breakfast, and fast afterwards.
This applies to both male and female medicals.

SEXUAL HEALTH APPOINTMENTS

Please arrive for your appointment with a full bladder, this is important in order for us to get the most accurate samples.

EAR SYRINGING APPOINTMENTS

Please use a softening eardrop before attending your appointment – ideally for 2 weeks in the lead up to your appointment, but for a minimum of 5 days prior to coming to the clinic. Use should use 2-3 drops of the ear-softening drops, 2-3 times a day.

TRAVEL CLINIC APPOINTMENTS

A copy of your travel itinerary (proposed dates of travel, destination(s) and length of time away)
Previous immunisation history/vaccination booklet if available
Any relevant medical history (e.g. details of current medication)
Wear loose comfortable clothing for ease of access to upper arm for vaccination.

VACCINES FOR CHILDREN

Please don’t forget to bring your child’s “Red Book” so that we can keep their vaccination record up-to-date.

PODIATRY APPOINTMENTS

If you are experiencing foot pain, please bring along your most commonly worn shoes. If you participate in sports, please bring along your exercise footwear too.
If you have previously been prescribed orthotics please bring them along with you for your consultation.

CONTACT LENS CHECK-UP

If you already wear contact lenses, please wear them for a minimum 2 hours before arriving for your appointment.
