Bolivia

Bolivia

The land-locked country of Bolivia is popular with visitors for its high-altitude destinations with a huge variety of landscapes to explore. Whether you’re travelling to Lake Titicaca, exploring the sites of capital city La Paz,  venturing into the steamy Amazon jungle, going underground at the mines of Potosi or jumping high at the salt flats of Uyuni, you will be exhilarated by your Bolivian adventures.

All travellers going to Bolivia should ensure they have sought pre-travel advice to ensure you stay healthy whilst abroad.

It is recommended that all travellers are up to date with their routine immunisations. All travellers should ensure that they have received a vaccination against diphtheria, tetanus and polio in the last 10 years. All travellers are advised to ensure they have been vaccinated against Hepatitis A and Typhoid.

The yellow fever virus is present in parts of Bolivia and therefore a vaccination against Yellow Fever may be advised for certain areas of the country.

There also may be a requirement to provide evidence of vaccination against Yellow Fever if entering Bolivia from a country that has a risk of Yellow Fever.

There may be a need for additional immunisations. Depending on the nature of the trip, destinations visited, duration of travel and activities, other vaccinations could be considered. These include:-

There is a risk of malaria in parts of Bolivia and antimalarial medication may be advised

Some parts of the country are at altitude, and considerations to prevent acute mountain sickness should be sought if travelling to these areas.
