Botswana

Botswana

Botswana is a wonderful destination to explore.  Spotting the Big 5 in a national park such as Chobe is a highlight of the region. Whether you’re going on safari in the Kalahari desert or are cruising the Okavango Delta, it is important that individuals seek pre-travel health advice before travel.

It is recommended that all travellers are up to date with their routine immunisations. All travellers should ensure that they have received a vaccination against diphtheria, tetanus and polio in the last 10 years. All travellers are advised to ensure they have been vaccinated against Hepatitis A and Typhoid.

There is no risk of Yellow Fever, however proof of vaccination will be required if entering from a country that has a risk of Yellow Fever.

There may be a need for additional immunisations. Depending on the nature of the trip, destinations visited, duration of travel and activities, other vaccinations could be considered.  These include:-

There is a risk of malaria in parts of Botswana and antimalarial medication may be advised.

Prevention against insect bites is essential.

Precautions against food and water borne illnesses should be sought.
