Travel Advice for Nepal
Everything about Nepal is beautiful. Many tourists come to trek through the Himalayas, especially during the months of September and October.
Whether you are climbing Mount Everest or the Annapurna ranges, or exploring the intoxicating city of Kathmandu or visiting the stunning region around Pokhara, it is recommended that you have sought pre-travel advice to ensure you stay healthy whilst abroad.
It is recommended that all travellers are up to date with their routine immunisations. All travellers should ensure that they have received a vaccination against diphtheria, tetanus and polio in the last 10 years. All travellers are advised to ensure they have been vaccinated against Hepatitis A and Typhoid.
There is no risk of Yellow Fever, however, proof of vaccination will be required if entering from a country that has a risk of Yellow Fever.
There may be a need for additional immunisations. Depending on the nature of the trip, destinations visited, duration of travel and activities, other vaccinations could be considered. These include:-
Some parts of the country are at altitude, and considerations to prevent acute mountain sickness should be sought.
There is a risk of malaria in the lower Terai district of Nepal, and antimalarial medication is advised for this region. All other regions of Nepal have low/no risk of malaria, and therefore antimalarial medication will not be needed for the majority of travellers.
Prevention against insect bites in Nepal is essential.
When travelling in Nepal, precautions against food and water borne illnesses should be sought.
