Nigeria

Nigeria

Nigeria is a very popular destination for business travel in particular to Lagos and Abuja. It is recommended that all travellers are up to date with their routine immunisations. All travellers should ensure that they have received a vaccination against diphtheria, tetanus and polio in the last 10 years. All travellers are advised to ensure they have been vaccinated against Hepatitis A and Typhoid.

The yellow fever virus is present in all of Nigeria and therefore a vaccination against Yellow Fever is advised. There also may be a requirement to provide evidence of vaccination against Yellow Fever if entering Nigeria from a country that has a risk of Yellow Fever.

There may be a need for additional immunisations. Depending on the nature of the trip, destinations visited, duration of travel and activities, other vaccinations could be considered.  These include:

There is a risk of malaria in all of Nigeria and anti-malarial medication is advised

Prevention against insect bites is essential.

Precautions against food and water borne illnesses should be sought.
